- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.39](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2001.3.39)

> \[The Master\] cited: Mountain Master Xiu offered the phrase, saying: “Fully endowed with the phenomena of ordinary beings, ordinary beings do not know it; fully endowed with the phenomena of sages, sages do not understand it. If sages understood it, they would be identical to ordinary beings; if ordinary beings knew it, they would be sages.”
> The Master said: “Having captured Annam, one worries again about the northern frontier. Arriving here, only when the genuine matter is cast away all at once can one sit securely on the ground. Is it authentic? On an equal level with a calm mind, vanished of itself into extinction.”
