> Ascending the hall, \[the Master\] said: Patterns opening emptiness, upholding the seal of the transmission of the ancestral lineage of Buddhas; illumination shattering darkness, continuing the lamp of humans and gods that lights the world. At that moment, one does not fall into deliberation; in that place, one is yet able to adapt freely. Therefore Master Chuanzi said: 'In the place of hiding the body, there are no tracks; where there are no tracks, do not hide the body. I have been at Yaoshan for thirty years and have only clarified this matter.' Zen worthies, tell me: what was the matter he clarified? Do you understand? After a long pause, he said: The sea turtle returns to the ocean hall as the evening tide falls; the hare crosses the starry river as the night moon grows clear.
