- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [4.92](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2001.4.92)

> Ascending the hall, \[the Master\] cited: A monk asked Zhaozhou, "'The Great Way is not difficult; it only dislikes picking and choosing.' Is this the nest of people of the time or not?" Zhou said, "Once someone asked me, and I was unable to explain it away for five years." The Master said: Tell me, was Zhaozhou answering his words or not answering his words? A person with clear eyes can see right through his bones. Tiantong cannot avoid adding a footnote: Unable to explain it away for five years, the single phrase originally has no seams. They only know to push it aside and debate it; who believes it clearly settles the price? The luminous know each other; the reckless marvel at each other. Better to curse with an understanding person than to speak with one who does not understand.
