- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.103](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2002a.1.103)

> Ascending the hall to thank the Reverend of Yanshi, \[the Master said\]: "Shutting the room in Magadha, the Old Barbarian threw open his crown; / Stopping the mouth in Vaiśālī, Pure Name flawed his pretext for speech. / Bringing up these two ancient gong'ans, revealing a stretch of majestic radiance today. / Therefore, host and guest are distinct, rivers and lakes have their place. / Do you still understand? / It is not that the poet does not present a poem: / The spring wind blows it into the partridge lyrics."
