> Ascending the hall: "Tiantong's first phrase of midwinter is craggy and jagged.
> The old plum tree suddenly bursts into blossom:
> one blossom, two blossoms, three, four, five blossoms, blossoms beyond count.
> Their purity cannot be praised;
> their fragrance cannot be praised.
> Scattering into spring demeanor, they blow upon the grasses and trees;
> patch-robed monks, each and every one has a bald crown.
> Suddenly transforming into monstrosities—
> raging winds and violent rains, even rolling across the great earth, snow drifts without bound.
> The old plum tree is terribly unreasonable;
> in the freezing cold, rubbing the nose leaves it aching."
