### [1.156](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2004.1.156)

> "When meeting face-to-face, the adept knows; (The obtuse are unaware.) / Even sparks from flint or a flash of lightning are too slow. (Already passed Silla.) / The mastermind who loses the initiative has deep design; (Laying troops in ambush to challenge the fight.) / The strategist who underestimates the enemy lacks foresight. (Penetrating deep into barbarian courts.) / When it shoots, it is sure to hit; (Habitually seizing the advantage.) / Whom else could he deceive? (Caught along with the stolen goods.) / Jaws seen from behind the head: difficult for people to provoke; (Having once been bitten by a snake.) / Eyes set beneath the eyebrows: he gains the advantage." (Pretending not to know.)
