> The Master said: Yunmen said, "Everyone has light within them; when looking for it, they do not see it—it is dark and dim." He also said, "Empty space cannot contain it; the great earth cannot bear it." The \*Śūraṅgama-sūtra\* says: "This seeing and its conditions are all the marvelous, pure, bright substance of bodhi; how could there be affirmation and non-affirmation therein?" Master Zhao's \*Treatise on Prajñā Being Without Knowledge\* says: "Because it matches nothing, there is nothing among things that it does not match. Because it affirms nothing, there is nothing among things that it does not affirm. Because there is nothing among things that it does not affirm, it is affirmed yet without affirmation. Because there is nothing among things that it does not match, it matches yet without matching. Therefore the sūtra says: 'Seeing all phenomena completely, yet there is nothing seen.'" This verse clearly relies on one sūtra and one treatise, and subtly points to transcending emotion and departing from views, where person and environment interpenetrate. Since the ancient buddha intersects with the exposed pillar, naturally clouds rise on the South Mountain and rain falls on the North Mountain. Bees collect flowers to make honey; musk deer feed on grass to produce fragrance. High and low, peaks and waterways, together turn the fundamental wheel of Dharma; large and small, scaled and furred creatures, universally manifest the samādhi of physical form. The elder Ghoṣila beheld three feet without limit; Bodhisattva Boundless Body plumbed the upper realms with room to spare. There is no time it does not manifest, no place it does not pervade. Therefore it is said: "Clearly, wherever it is touched, it stands out manifest and dignified." The Master also said: "Do you see? Blind!"
