> Case: Dongshan was unwell. A monk asked, 'The Venerable is ill; is there still one who is not ill?' (Let him explain at will.) / Dongshan said, 'There is.' (Strongly taking a stand.) / The monk said, 'Does the one who is not ill look after the Venerable?' (Flowing through worldly truth.) / Dongshan said, 'This old monk has the duty to look after him.' (Meeting according to the fundamental affair.) / The monk said, 'When the Venerable looks after him, what is it like?' (What eyes does he have to meet him?) / Dongshan said, 'Then I do not see that there is any illness.' (He simply refuses to participate in falsehood.)
