> Wumen said: "Both alike held up a fist; why did he approve one and not approve the other? Tell me, where is the discrepancy? If you can produce a turning word here, you will see that Zhaozhou's tongue has no bone: in raising up and throwing down, he possesses great ease. Even though it is so, how can he avoid having been seen through by the two hermits? If you say that the two hermits have superiority and inferiority, you do not yet possess the eye of investigation and study; if you say there is no superiority and inferiority, you also do not yet possess the eye of investigation and study."
