> Answer: Whether ordinary or noble, spoken of as different or spoken of as identical, all are images in the mirror. This is only a single mirror, perfect to the utmost of the ten directions. Outside the mirror there are no phenomena; other and self are both eliminated. A venerable master of antiquity said: 'If one says that the citta-nature of sentient beings is identical with the citta-nature of all buddhas, this is the Separate Teaching. The citta-nature of the Perfect Teaching is a single tranquil radiance, without other and without self. Reaching to the limits of the buddhas and sentient beings of the ten directions and the three periods of time, it forms one great round mirror. It is merely a single mirror; there is neither identity nor difference. Buddhas and sentient beings are merely images upon this one mirror.'
