> Answer: Principle and phenomena viewed in relation to each other are each neither one nor different; therefore, they completely subsume \[each other\] without destroying their original state. First, principle viewed in relation to phenomena has four propositions: 1. Because the true principle is not different from phenomena, the entire substance of the true principle is within phenomena. 2. Because the true principle is not one with phenomena, the substance and nature of the true principle are forever boundless. 3. Because non-oneness is identical with non-difference, the boundless nature of principle is entirely within a single dust speck. 4. Because non-difference is identical with non-oneness, the nature of principle of a single dust speck has no divisions or limits. Next, phenomena viewed in relation to principle also have four propositions: 1. Because phenomena are not different from principle, they completely encompass the nature of principle. 2. Because phenomena are not one with principle, they do not destroy a single dust speck. 3. Because non-oneness is identical with non-difference, a single small dust speck encompasses the boundless nature of principle. 4. Because non-difference is identical with non-oneness, a single dust speck encompasses the boundless nature of principle, yet the dust speck is not large. Reflect upon this.
