> Answer: The Buddha who expounds this sūtra originally does not undergo nirvāṇa. In the Dharmadhātupraveṣa chapter, opening the sandalwood tower, one sees the Buddhas of the three times having no nirvāṇa. Furthermore, within the deportment of gathering and transforming, nirvāṇa is also expounding the Dharma to gather sentient beings, having no distinction from attaining the Path and expounding the Dharma. Furthermore, Rocana Buddha is constantly in the Flower Store, perpetually expounding the Dharma, fundamentally without nirvāṇa, because of eternal abiding. Thus we know that appearing in the world and nirvāṇa are all sentient beings' own perception; the Buddhas fundamentally do not appear in the world, nor do they undergo nirvāṇa. Therefore, entering into the mirror of the source, naturally both views are severed.
