宗鏡錄 53.25

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [53.25](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2016.53.25)

又古德問。五識既唯緣實色。只如長短等。依色境現前時。眼根不壞。此時眼識。為緣。為不緣。若言緣者。便犯五識緣假之過。若不緣者。何故閉眼不見。開眼乃見耶。

> Again, an ancient master asked: Since the five consciousnesses condition only real form, just as when \[shapes such as\] long and short appear before one based on the objective sphere of form, and the eye faculty is undamaged, at this time does the eye consciousness condition them or not? If you say it conditions them, one commits the error of the five consciousnesses conditioning nominal \[forms\]. If it does not condition them, why is it that when one closes one's eyes one does not see them, but when one opens one's eyes one sees them?
