> Answer: The Mirror of Vijñaptimātra states: In the Mahāyāna, the five consciousnesses and the simultaneous manovijñāna are all pratyakṣa and do not cling to them as external. In the Hīnayāna school, it is solely the five consciousnesses that do not cling to them as external. The author of the treatise says: Since you in the Hīnayāna grant that the five consciousnesses cognizing objects are pratyakṣa and do not cling to them as external, we know clearly that in the mind of pratyakṣa there are no external objects at all; this is precisely vijñaptimātra.
