Like directly seeing form without knowing the meaning of form; it is only through subsequent discrimination by the manovijñāna that one afterwards cognizes it. When the manovijñāna discriminates, the eye-consciousness and other \[sense-consciousnesses\] do not exist, because they have already ceased, for all phenomena do not abide for a single instant.
