> Answer: This admits of four propositions: conventional different, ultimate the same; ultimate different, conventional the same; ultimate and conventional different, standing in mutual opposition; ultimate and conventional not different, yet different, standing in mutual opposition. In the Tripiṭaka and Shared \[teachings\], the ultimate is the same while the conventional is different. For persons of the two Shared \[vehicles\], the ultimate is different while the conventional is the same. In the Separate \[teaching\], the ultimate and conventional are both different and stand in mutual opposition. In the Perfect \[teaching\], the ultimate and conventional are not different, yet different, standing in mutual opposition. They are not the same and yet the same. If they do not interpenetrate, then within their respective domains the ultimate and conventional stand in mutual opposition. The seven kinds of two truths have been explained extensively as above. In brief, they are: within the realm, mutually identical; not mutually identical; beyond the realm, mutually identical; not mutually identical—these are the four kinds of two truths. The Separate accessing the Shared is the fifth. The Perfect accessing the Shared is the sixth. The Perfect accessing the Separate is the seventh.
