> Question: If you say that mind, like objects, is empty and utterly ungraspable, yet now when even the slightest thought arises in the mind, karmic retribution is not in vain: a single moment of wholesome mind remotely ascends to the fruit of Buddhahood, while a single moment of evil thought brings suffering for long kalpas. How could it be identical to external form and sensory dust, whose nature is neutral (avyākṛta), conventionally existent reliant on mind, and ultimately devoid of substance? If it is the mind of conditioning thoughts, then it must be existent.
