答。為遣外道等心心所外執實有境故。假說唯有識。非唯識言。便有實。識論云。為遣妄執心心所外實有境故。說唯有識。若執唯識真實有者。如執外境。亦是法執。若法執不生。即入真空矣。

> Answer: In order to eliminate the grasping of outsiders and others who grasp at truly existent realms outside minds and mental factors, it is conventionally said that there is consciousness-only. The phrase 'consciousness-only' does not mean there is real consciousness. The Vijñaptimātratāsiddhiśāstra says: 'In order to eliminate the deluded grasping at truly existent realms outside minds and mental factors, it is said that there is consciousness-only. If one grasps that consciousness-only is truly existent, it is like grasping at external realms, which is also a grasping at dharmas. If grasping at dharmas does not arise, one then enters true emptiness.'
