> Answer: Because of thoroughly understanding that all names and referents have no existence, one is able to accomplish non-conceptual wisdom. A verse in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha states: / 'Ghosts, animals, humans, gods, and so forth, / Each according to what is appropriate to them, / All have differing minds; / Therefore we know that referents are not established. / The past and so forth, as well as dreams, / Along with the other two images, / Have no \[real external things\] to be conditioned, / Yet their conditioning is accomplished.' / The explanation says: If referents were established as objects, there would be no non-conceptual wisdom; if this wisdom did not exist, the fruit of Buddhahood could not be attained. Toward a single thing, according to their own minds, views differ; therefore one should know that referents have no existence, because what they grasp is not established.
