> Answer: The Buddha is neither real nor a transformation; real and transformation stem from the mind. If the mind is true, true merit is boundless; if the mind is provisional, the provisional reward is limited. As when shedding the blood of a Buddha's body with an evil mind, grasping the Buddha's body as actually existent, the blood arises from the mind; if with a reverent mind one wishes to see a transformation body of the Buddha, the Buddha manifests from the mind. Hence we know that hiding and revealing reside in oneself; the Buddha's body is unconditioned. Superior and inferior lie solely in the mind, while the field of merit is equal.
