> It answers: 'The sūtras only speak of shedding the blood of a Buddha's body with an evil mind, without distinguishing real or transformation. If making offerings to a transformation Buddha yields complete merit, then reviling it with an evil mind should also incur a mortal transgression. The evil person definitely considers the transformation Buddha to be real, and with an evil mind causes it to bleed, so blood is indeed drawn, and they straightaway incur the mortal transgression. Hence we know that according to the unreality or actuality of the mind, the Buddha has no fixed form. Within the principle of the true characteristic, both transgressions and merit are tranquil.'
