> The Puṇyasaṃgrahadharma-samādhi-sūtra says: “Like a lapis lazuli vessel, wherever it may be, it does not lose its nature. Likewise, if a bodhisattva abides in this samādhi, though remaining at home, such a person should be said to have gone forth from home, because he is able not to lose the essential nature of this dharmadhātu.” Explanation: Therefore, only by awakening to the citta can one attain the Way; seeing the nature is termed “going forth from home.” If one sees the nature, then remaining at home is going forth from home; if one does not see the nature, then going forth from home is remaining at home. Thus, before seeing the nature, Ānanda repented himself, saying: “Though my body went forth from home, my citta did not enter the Way.”
