> Master Da'an said: 'Within each of your own bodies, there is an invaluable great jewel. Radiating light from the eye-gate, it breaks open the mountains, rivers, and the great earth. Radiating light from the ear-gate, it receives and perceives all good and evil sounds. The six gates day and night constantly radiate bright light; it is also called the samādhi of radiating light. You yourselves do not recognize it. Within the body of the four great elements, it supports inside and outside without letting them tip over. The soles of your two feet can carry a burden of one or two piculs of stone, and passing over a single-log bridge, it does not allow you to fall to the ground. And what is this? If you seek it by a single hair's breadth, it cannot be seen. Therefore Master Baozhi said: "Searching inside and outside, looking for it, it is totally absent; functioning upon objects, it is entirely grandly present."'
