> Master Changsha's verse says: 'Most extremely deep, most extremely deep: / the dharmadhātu and the human body are just the mind. / Deluded people mistake the mind for the multitude of lands; / when awakened, the ocean of lands is the true mind. / The two dusts of body and realm are originally the real mark; / clearly comprehending this, one is called an intimate knower.' A student also asked: 'From what did the discriminating consciousness of sentient beings throughout the entire dharmadhātu originally arise?' The verse of reply said: 'The ground of nature gives birth to the master of the mind; / the mind is the teacher of the ten thousand dharmas. / When the mind ceases, the teacher of the mind ceases, / and only then does one accord with suchness.'
