### [99.2](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2016.99.2)

> Now, composing treatises and explaining sūtras serve to expound the Buddha’s intent indirectly. Either great beings of the dharmakāya manifest traces to open the gate of assisting transformation, or eminent figures who have attained the source rely on the teachings to propagate the path of giving the Dharma. Down to doctrinal commentaries, chapter outlines, inscriptions, secrets, praises, and prefaces, wherever they correspond with the Mirror of the Source, all should be cited and verified. Therefore, the discourses of sentient beings all flow forth from the dharmadhātu, and the scriptures and books of non-Buddhists are entirely what the buddhas have spoken.
