The verse of the seventh Buddha, Śākyamuni, says:
“Illusory transformations are without cause and also without birth;
All are naturally seen as such.
Phenomena are none other than self-transformed births;
Illusory transformations are unborn, with nothing to fear.”
He further told Mahākāśyapa: “I possess the pure eye of the Dharma, the wondrous citta of nirvāṇa, the real mark without mark, the subtle and wondrous true Dharma. I entrust it to you; do not let it be broken off. Listen to my verse:
‘The Dharma originally is a Dharma of no-dharma;
A dharma of no-dharma is also a Dharma.
Now when the dharma of no-dharma is entrusted,
How has the Dharma of dharmas ever been a Dharma?’”
