- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.35](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2017.2.35)

> Question: "Why not attain sudden awakening to the single Dharma, whereupon the myriad practices are naturally perfected, instead of circuitously following a gradual path and toiling over petty good deeds? In the Chan school, not a single thought arises, and not a single speck of dust appears. If one races after mirage-water or contends to grasp sky-flowers, using illusions to cultivate illusions, there is ultimately no principle to be attained."
