- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.69](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2017.3.69)

> Answer: "Now, the myriad things undergo change, but the Three Jewels are eternally abiding; quiescent and unmoving, they respond and transform through sympathetic resonance. \[The Buddha\] was not newly born in the royal palace, nor did he depart forever beneath the twin trees. If sentient beings have meager merit, then the Buddha's work melts away like ice; if the land has deep affinity, then pure monasteries tower up like clouds. Gain and loss arise naturally within people; it is not the Dharma that undergoes flourishing and decline. Therefore the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra says: 'When sentient beings see the kalpa end / and it is consumed by a great fire, / this land of mine is secure and tranquil, / ever filled with heavenly and human beings.'"
