> When the noon meal is over, the attendant reports to the abbot, saying: "Tonight there is a small convocation." He orders the guest prefect to notify the assembly and hang the small convocation board. He writes down in full: the special envoys, the two ranks, the retired officers, the infirmary hall, the former officers, the various dormitories, the manors, storehouses, hermitages, and pagodas, newly arrived guests staying in the hall, the attendants of the abbot's quarters, the traveling monks, as well as visiting officials and guests from other monasteries who are staying overnight. He lists each item one by one to present in advance for reporting. When the evening bell tolls, the attendant reports to the abbot's quarters; after the board is struck, the drum is sounded once. The assembly gathers, and the two ranks take their positions and stand firm. The abbot comes out and ascends the rostrum. After giving instructions, engaging in questions and answers, presenting the essential themes, and expressing thanks, the postulant holds a candle, and the attendant presents the list of names so that full details can be addressed. The abbot descends from the rostrum, and the guest prefect postulant calls out: "The hall head upādhyāya invites the upādhyāyas of other monasteries, the two ranks, the west hall, the retired officers, the infirmary hall, the attendants, and the traveling monks to proceed immediately to the guest hall to be served hot tonic." The administrators escort the official guests back to the guest quarters for hot tonic and fruit.
