The administrators must report to the abbot the evening before. The next morning, the attendant orders the guest prefect to hang the board for ascending the hall to notify the assembly. The monastery storehouse dispatches personnel to solemnly arrange the ancestral shrine and make offerings. After congee is over, he specially ascends the hall on their behalf, and having concluded presenting the purpose of the event, he expounds the Dharma and descends from the rostrum. Gathering the assembly, they proceed to the ancestral shrine, burn incense, and make offerings of tea and hot tonic. The karmadāna leads the chanting of sūtras for dedication of merit.
