> King Ikṣvāku's fourth son was Alamkāra (that is, Biecheng). The last of the hundred wheel-turning kings of the Ikṣvāku lineage was named Mahāsammata. (According to the Dharmaguptaka Vinaya: "After one hundred kings in succession from Ikṣvāku, there was a king named Mahāsammata." Nanshan's Shijia pu states that Mahāsammata was the Tathāgata's seventh-generation ancestor.) From after the hundred wheel-turning kings, the sixth-generation ancestor was King Utpala; the fifth-generation ancestor was King Rodana; the fourth-generation ancestor was King Nyagrodha; the third-generation ancestor was King Nipura; the second-generation ancestor was King Siṃhahanu; and the first generation was the father, King Śuddhodana. King Siṃhahanu had four sons: First, King Śuddhodana (some sūtras say Baijing), who had two sons: the elder, Prince Siddhārtha, and the younger, Nanda. Second, King Śuklodana, who had two sons: the elder, Tiaoda (some sūtras say Devadatta), and the younger, Ānanda. Third, King Droṇodana, who had two sons: the elder, Mahānāman (some say Prince Kulika, one of the five monks), and the younger, Aniruddha (some say Anuruddha). Fourth, King Amṛtodana, who had two sons: the elder, Vāṣpa, and the younger, Bhadrika (one of the five monks; Dīrgha Āgama).
