禪師明曠。天台人。依章安稟教觀。廣化四眾專誦法華。章安撰八教大意。師首於三童寺錄受。平時著述甚多。今所存心經疏耳。

> Chan Master Mingkuang was a native of Tiantai. He relied on Zhāng'ān to receive the teachings and contemplation, broadly transformed the fourfold assembly, and devoted himself to reciting the Lotus Sūtra. When Zhāng'ān composed the General Outline of the Eight Teachings, the Master was the first to record and receive it at Santong Temple. Throughout his life, his writings were very numerous; today, only his Commentary on the Heart Sūtra survives.
