> Dharma Master Zhishen, bestowed with the name Cixing, was of the Shen family of Jiahe. At first he relied on Haiyue to study the doctrine and contemplation. Having completed his studies, he returned to his tonsure temple, Chongfu West Temple, opening a communal hall to provide for traveling monks. He established the Repentance Assembly of the Light Period. For twenty years he was consistent as on a single day, focusing solely on the Pure Land and exhorting people to recite the Buddha’s name. Those who were transformed were beyond counting. In the sixth month of the yihai year of Zhenghe \[1115\], he died sitting. His casket was kept for seven days, yet his complexion did not change. On the day of his cremation, an extraordinary fragrance struck people. When they gathered the relics and bones, all of them were taken.
