### [12.24](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2035.12.24)

> Dharma Master Ziren listened to Fazhi lecture and recorded the famous sayings quoted from various sections into five categories; the rise of categorical compilations originated with the Master. In the summer of the seventh year of Xiangfu, Fazhi posed seven chapters of miscellaneous questions on the teachings and the doctrine of the four teachings and four truths; the Master's answers were superior, and scholars widely circulated them. Later, he was chosen to head the assembly, lecturing without fatigue. Humble and unassuming, he did not pursue worldly fame, and for this, people respected him. (Below this, the Basic Annals omitted one person.)
