> Dharma Master Genshin was one of the ten great Chan masters of Japan. In the sixth year of Xianping, he dispatched his disciple Jakuchō with twenty-seven questions on doctrinal principles to visit Nanhu and seek resolution. Fazhi answered and explained each one for him. Chō joyfully received them and returned to his country; Shin greatly submitted to his explanations and bowed in gratitude facing west. (Below this, the Basic Annals omitted one person, Genqing.)
