> Lixian resided at Fahui in Xincheng. Daily he recited the Lotus Sūtra, practiced mantras, and chanted the Buddha's name. When midnight came, his voice became sorrowful and earnest, gazing up and expressing the utmost suffering of the sahā world, wishing that the Buddha would soon deign to guide him to attain rebirth. Thus it was for ten years. In his later years, he repeatedly experienced auspicious dreams. Suddenly showing signs of illness, he commanded the assembly to chant the Buddha's name; gazing attentively toward the West, he sat upright and passed away.
