His light shone into the water, and the dragon's eyes were opened. Remembering having previously seen the radiant light of three Buddhas (the three Buddhas Krakucchanda, Kanakamuni, and Kāśyapa in the Bhadrakalpa), whereupon his eyes regained sight, he emerged from the water to see the Buddha. The heavens rained for seven days; the dragon coiled his body around him seven times and spread his seven heads over him as a shelter. After seven days the rain ceased, and the Buddha awoke from samādhi.
