- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [32.15](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2035.32.15)

> Gaochang was the royal court of the Anterior Jushi (which is Jiaohe). It has Mount Tanwu, which has accumulated snow even in summer; north of the mountain is the border of the Tiele. Looking from Dunhuang toward that country, there are mostly gravelly deserts, boundless and without paths; those wishing to travel there proceed by tracking the skeletons of humans and beasts. At times, one may hear singing or weeping, which are the doings of mountain sprites and demons. Traveling merchants and travelers mostly take the Yiwu route (Treatise on the Western Regions in the History of the Northern Dynasties).
