> In the seventh year, the Emperor dreamed of a sixteen-foot golden man with the halo of the sun around the nape of his neck, flying through the palace courtyard. At dawn he questioned his ministers, but none could reply. The Grand Astrologer Fu Yi stepped forward and said: "Your subject has heard that in the time of King Zhao of the Zhou, a sage appeared in the West whose name was the Buddha." The Emperor thereupon dispatched the Palace Gentleman蔡愔 Cai Yin, Qin Jing, the Erudite Wang Zun, and others, eighteen men in all, as envoys to the Western Regions to seek out the way of the Buddha.
