> Fifteenth year. A monk from Western Tianzhu painted his own image at Lingyan Temple in Wu; when night fell, the image would arise and circumambulate, responding miraculously to prayers. Later, a Sanskrit monk said, 'This is the Bodhisattva Jñānākara.' ○ The Perfected Man of Huayang, Tao Hongjing, built the Bodhi White Stūpa on Mount Sanmao; he once dreamt that the Buddha bestowed upon him the prophecy of becoming the Bodhisattva Victorious Power. He then went to the Aśoka Stūpa in Mao County and voluntarily vowed to receive the five great precepts. Facing death, he did not bathe, but covered his bed with a great kāṣāya, veiling his head and feet; his disciples complied with this (Book of Liang).
