### [37.65](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2035.37.65)

> In the sixth year, Emperor Wu of the Zhou abolished both the Buddhist and Daoist teachings. Three hundred people, including the śramaṇas Jingsong and Lingkan, all led one another south to the Southern Dynasty. The emperor ordered Prince Consort Cai Ning to proclaim an imperial decree, saying: "The Dharma masters are adept at understanding order and disorder, and their coming to take refuge is orderly. It is appropriate that they dwell peacefully in the great monasteries of the metropolitan wall, and the authorities shall supply their needs." Śramaṇa Zhi Zhou and eleven others traveled to Western India to seek sūtras.
