### [38.10](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2035.38.10)

> In the second year, Lord Lao descended upon Mount Song and conferred scriptures and precepts upon the Daoist priest Kou Qianzhi, saying to him: "Since Zhang Daoling passed away, the worldly office has been left vacant. I now confer upon you the office of Celestial Master, to purify and regulate the Daoist teaching, to convert the multitude of beings, and to abolish the malpractices of the three Zhangs' grain-taxes and cash-levies as well as the arts of the union of male and female pneumas." (The three Zhangs refers to Zhang Ling, who made sick people offer grain to repent their faults; later Zhang Xiu and Zhang Jiao followed his example, and the world called it the Way of the Five Pecks of Rice.) Two years later, Lord Lao dispatched his great-great-grandson, the High Master and Perfected Person Li Puwen, to bestow one hundred and sixty fascicles of the Taiping sujing tulù to assist the Northern Taiping Zhenjun (referring to Emperor Taiwu).
