> In the first year of Xiantian \[712\], the Western Indian śramaṇa Poluo requested to light lamps as an offering to the Buddha. The emperor ascended the Yanxi Gate to watch. The lamp wheels were two hundred feet high, lit with five hundred gold and silver lamps, which appeared from afar like blossoming trees.
> Bodhiruci and others presented the newly translated \*Mahāratnakūṭa Sūtra\* in one hundred and twenty fascicles. The emperor personally composed an imperial preface to the holy teachings to crown the beginning of the scripture.
> In the eleventh month, Dharma Master Fazang of Xianshou passed away; he was posthumously granted the rank of Chamberlain for Ceremonials and buried on the Shenhe Plateau.
