佛祖統紀 43.28

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [43.28](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.2035.43.28)

述曰。左右即東西也。郊天之日道居左者。以道士繼朝班之後。便於設拜故權令居左。非常用之法也　此說聞之頑空云。得之禮部職事人。

> The author remarks: Left and right are east and west. On the day of the sacrifice to Heaven in the suburbs, the reason Daoists stood on the left was that, following behind the court ranks, it was convenient for performing prostrations, so they were temporarily ordered to stand on the left. This was not a regular, standard rule. This explanation was heard from Wankong, who obtained it from an official of the Ministry of Rites.
