> In the sixth year, two myriad ingots of paper currency were bestowed upon the monks of Da Xingjiao Monastery for vegetarian provisions, and one myriad ingots of paper currency upon Qianyuan Monastery, so that they might put out loans at interest to provide for maintenance and repairs. The Emperor heard of the Way of Zhongfeng Mingben of Tianmu; though an invitation was sent, he did not come. The Emperor manufactured a gold-patterned kāṣāya and bestowed it upon him, granting him the title Chan Master Foci Yuanzhao Guanghui, and gave the placard 'Zhengzong Chan Monastery' to the Shizi Cloister. He ordered Academician Recipient of Edicts of the Hanlin Academy Zhao of Wuxing to compose an inscription. Chan Master Yuansou Duan of Jingshan was granted the title Fori Puzhao. Officials of the Censorate stated: 'Those under the jurisdiction of the White Cloud School General Overseer in Jiangnan who have become monks while retaining their hair do not care for their parents, and evade corvée to the detriment of the common people. We request that the imperial credentials with seals and silver seals they received be confiscated, and that they be compelled to return to commoner registries.' This was approved. The General Overseer's offices and the various local Buddhist Registrars, Buddhist Rectors, and Controller-General Offices were abolished. All lawsuits involving monks were transferred to the relevant government authorities.
