> When Emperor Wu of the Southern Qi was indisposed, he summoned various śramaṇas to pray to the Buddha; this induced a heavenly fragrance that filled the hall, and sacred monks shook their khakkharas. Under Emperor Jiemin of the Northern Wei, Lu Jingyou, Erudite of the National University, was versed in the Buddha-Dharma; when his cousin rebelled and implicated Jingyou, he recited the scriptures with single-minded devotion, and his cangue and fetters fell off on their own.
