> (22) The God of the Soil and Grain (Anciently, the son of the Lishan clan, named Gui, was skilled in cultivating the five grains. Prior to Yu of Xia, he was always paired in sacrifice as the god of the harvest. The Duke of Zhou substituted Houji for him. From the Zhou onward, \[Houji\] has always been paired in the sacrifice. Being the master of the five grains, sacrifice is offered to repay his merit. The five grains are rice, millet, beans, hemp, and wheat, which divide and mature into hundreds).
