> His taboo name was Zhuang. He was the fourth son of Guangwu. The Emperor adhered to the laws and institutions of Jianwu and did not permit the families of empresses and concubines to participate in government affairs. He visited the Biyong Academy and provided for the Three Elders and Five Experienced Men. Even among the Feather Forest guardsmen, all were thoroughly versed in the Classic of Filial Piety. Civil culture and education flourished greatly, and laws and ordinances were clear and distinct. In the third year of Yongping, portraits of the meritorious ministers of the restoration were painted, displaying twenty-eight generals in the Cloud Terrace of the Southern Palace; Wang Chang, Li Tong, Dou Rong, and Zhuo Mao were added, making thirty-two men in all. Only Ma Yuan was excluded because he was an imperial in-law. In the fourth year of Yongping, Cang, King of Dongping, came to court. The Emperor asked, "When residing at home, what brings the greatest joy?" He replied, "Doing good brings the greatest joy." The Emperor sighed and said, "These words are profound indeed; they can preserve the state!" Among the twenty-eight generals, Deng Yu was the foremost, followed by Ma Cheng, Wu Han, Wang Liang, Jia Fu, Chen Jun, Geng Yan, Du Mao, Kou Xun, Fu Jun, Cen Peng, Jian Tan, Feng Yi, Wang Ba, Zhu You, Ren Guang, Zhai Zun, Li Zhong, Jing Dan, Wan Xiu, Gai Yan, Pi Rong, Diao Qi, Liu Zhi, Geng Chun, Zang Gong, Ma Wu, and Liu Long. Reign era: Yongping (18).
