> The \*Hongming ji\*: The Liang śramaṇa Sengyou, a Vinaya master, had extensively propagated the Vinaya since the early Qi. By this time, the Emperor paid him profound respect. Sengyou was declining with age and afflicted with foot ailments, so an imperial edict allowed him to enter the inner palace in a sedan chair to administer the precepts to the six palaces. On the twenty-sixth day of the fifth month, he entered tranquility at the age of seventy-four. The Master authored the \*Sancang ji\*, the \*Fayuan ji\*, the \*Shijie ji\*, the \*Shijia pu\*, and the \*Hongming ji\*, all of which circulate in the world (\*Biographies of Eminent Monks\*).
