> In winter, the tenth month, the Emperor performed the feng sacrifice eastward at Mount Tai to worship the Sovereign on High. On the first day of the eleventh month, he visited Qufu to offer sacrifice to Confucius, conferring the posthumous title King Xuan-sheng Wen-xuan. He posthumously conferred the title King Zhaolie Wucheng on Grand Duke Wang of Qi, and King Wenxian on King Wen of Zhou, erecting shrines for each. Soon after, because of the taboo name of the Holy Ancestor, Xuan-sheng was changed to Zhi-sheng. In the second month of the jiyou year, an edict permitted the establishment of a school at the shrine of the Former Sage in Qufu (Imperial Annals).
